Major Gifts Manager

KBDI Channel 12 Colorado Public Television, seeks a Major Gifts Manager. KBDI offers a wide array of local public affairs, international news, arts, culture and children's programming, with an emphasis on under-served audiences and important community political and social issues. Candidates must share an appreciation of and commitment to the core values of public television generally and to the special mission of KBDI specifically. They should have a good understanding of the public television and KBDI audiences.

 

Applicants should have three-to-five years of successful fundraising and major donor experience, possess strong interpersonal, writing and organizational skills, and be able to work independently.

 

This position will build on and expand the existing KBDI Major Giving Initiative Program, and will be responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies to increase major donor gifts to KBDI. The major gifts manager will report to the Vice President of Development and Marketing and work closely with her, and the President, and others in senior management as well as with the entire dedicated team of board volunteers and staff involved in all aspects of KBDI fundraising.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION: Manager, Major Gifts

 

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Development

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee and manage all aspects of the major gifts program for KBDI, supervising annual gifts of $1,000 and more and special gifts from these and other donors.
  2. Establish budget goals in this category in consultation with management and develop strategies to reach them.
  3. Prepare written materials, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements, and regular communications as part of the stewardship program. Prepare marketing materials, including brochures, articles, ads, and coordinate on-air announcements, to promote the concept of major giving to KBDI.
  4. Establish and maintain the donor cultivation cycle and gift stewardship program to ensure that new major donors are developed, have opportunities to increase their level of support annually, and enjoy a close relationship to the station.
  5. Serve as a key liaison with Development/Major Gifts Committee. Work with the committee to develop levels of support. Develop strategies to facilitate personal solicitation of prospects by committee members.
  6. Coordinate 2-3 Major Gifts cultivation and/or recognition events annually.
  7. Maintain major donor prospect and donor records with the station database manager.
  8. Contribute to the collegial atmosphere within the development division, working cooperatively with all other departments to help them and the division collectively attain their overall financial and advancement goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree and five years of major gift fundraising experience.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent personal and written communications
  • Knowledge of word processing, and spreadsheet programs and general familiarity with database programs.
