There are an awful lot of sports talk shows on the air these days – with an emphasis on the word awful. Too many sportscasters fancy themselves stand-up comedians. They’re constantly striving for the funny one-liner. Or they try to be “edgy.” Or they try to insert themselves into the story.
We take the opposite tact on Sports Zone. Our goal is to discuss current sports topics in an objective, intelligent, articulate manner. And we have the right panelists to do just that.
Dave Krieger is a thoughtful, insightful sports columnist at the Rocky Mountain News. He has quickly become the show’s conscience, always pointing out hypocrisies in others’ arguments.
Jim Armstrong is a sports columnist at The Denver Post. Appearing four days a week, the column is as witty as you can find nationwide. He also is a featured sports columnist on AOL.com.
Charles Johnson is a sports talk host on KKFN-Radio (950TheFan) and brings an athlete’s perspective to the show. Besides being a former quarterback at CU, CJ is also the anti-Krieger on our panel. He and Dave get into some lively and amusing debates.
These sports hawks have been in this community a long time – they know the sports history in this region, know the local organizations, and aren’t afraid to let loose with their opinions.
Sports Zone is not a “shoutfest.” We don’t talk over each other (not too much, anyway). We discuss, we debate, and sometimes we even agree.
See what the buzz is about. Even ESPN wants to be a part of it. Beginning later this month, Sports Zone will be taped at the Denver ESPN Zone as part of a new production partnership. So tune in Tuesdays at 9:30 pm and let us know what you think.
