latinos in the Army

FMy interes is not to coment about the latinos in the armed forces, but to point out the great forgaten support that Latin American countries give to allied forces in WW2. Not only in man power but the most important, in war material. We must remember that Asia was under control of Japan. Europe by the German and also North Africa. So there was no other place in the world where to obtain the minerals the foods, fuels needed to move the war machine, so all of it came from the Latin American Countries. And on top of that we must remember that FDR had commanded to the farmers in this country not to produce any crops for the time the war would last. since most of the people were needed in the factories building the machinery or they were enrolled in the armed forces to fight the war. So I will point out once more that the Steell,Coper, Zinc, Silver or any other mineral needed to build the war machine was provided almost entirely by Latin American Countries. I also remember my mother telling us kids that they had no sugar during the war years because most of it was send to usa to suport the war and also the troops in the Pacific and Europe. from that time also comes the use of the word "Material" in the English language wich is the way latinos called the war supply. I think this needs to be adress so people in this country understand that the war wasn't won by them alone, we play a big part on it to.
Latinos - Quid pro quo

The recent program about Latinos was interesting and confirms some of my beliefs about them and their presence in the U.S.. It would be interesting to see a program with an opposing point of view, one that for whatever reason has not been given adequate exposure. I suggest a similar set of interviews with folks like demographer Joel Cohen, racist John Tanton, Roy Beck of NumbersUSA, Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies, Professor Borjas of Harvard, etc. The idea would be to show that there are important non-racist reasons for opposing excessive legal immigration and illegal aliens.

Shouldn't you have somebody on this show that has a different view then one every single person on your panel has. They never addressed the fact that the people they are representing are here illegally and that is an important aspect of all of this. Are they condoning the idea of entering this country without documentation? It sure sounds like it. This is a major sticking point with the citizens of the United States. Our laws are not being enforced and to have a panel like yours completely ignore the aspect of what is a legal way to enter our nation is very disturbing. If I went to Mexico or anyplace else for that matter, without proper permission, I would be looking at some serious jail time and heavy fines. What makes this country any different? Why do the people of Mexico think they have immunity to our laws?
KBDI Response:

Dear Dave,

Thank you for your interest in KBDI programming. We always enjoy hearing from our viewers even if they don’t always like what they see.

Latin View tries to provide an objective Hispanic viewpoint to world affairs. Sherri Vasquez allows her guests to freely discuss their opinions and tries to get a variety of people and opinions on the show.  With a topic such as immigration, sometimes it is helpful to not always have a debate, but to have an in-depth discussion such as this.  Each show is different and some may even surprise you. Please keep watching to see other topics you may enjoy.

Thanks again for your note and for watching and supporting KBDI-TV Colorado Public Television.

Sincerely,

Dominic Dezzutti
Director of Production
