Who we are
Colorado Public News is being created in partnership with Colorado Public Television, Denver’s independent PBS station, KBDI-12.
When enough funds have been raised to start operations, it will provide in-depth and investigative reporting about Colorado both on the web, and on-air on Channel 12.
It is led by Ann Imse, editor: A successful entrepreneur who has been an investigative journalist with the Rocky Mountain News and Orange County Register, an Associated Press Moscow correspondent who covered the collapse of the Soviet Union for three years, an economics and business reporter, and an MBA student.
Others on the Colorado Public News creation team include:
- Cara DeGette, managing editor: Veteran Colorado editor on two startups, the Colorado Springs Independent and the Colorado Independent.
- Joe Mahoney, multi-media director: Pulitzer-Prize-winning photographer and video journalist who was assistant multi-media director at the Rocky Mountain News.
- Noelle Leavitt, recruiting and social media director: Writer, president of the Colorado chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, formerly with the Denver Business Journal.
- Sonya Doctorian, award-winning video journalist, formerly with the Rocky Mountain News and St. Petersburg Times.
- Drew Jaynes, webmaster and photographer
- Journalists Bill Scanlon, Dennis Huspeni, Jody Berger, Sara Burnett, Jerd Smith, Michelle Conklin, Andy Piper, Lauren Rickel, Raj Sharan.
- Robert D. Tonsing, publication designer and entrepreneur.
- Don Knox, founder of Circuit Media, which covers the Colorado legislature and the legal business, and a former business editor at the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post.
Colorado Public Television’s team working on the news project includes:
- Wick Rowland, general manager, former dean of the journalism school at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
- Kim Johnson, vice president, broadcast operations.
- Dominic Dezzutti, director of production and producer of the Colorado Decides debate series
